Read the story of Hank's last day here and here.
Check out these great songs about Hank. I especially like the Moe Bandy number. Good stuff:
The Blasters - Long White Cadillac (buy album)
Moe Bandy - Hank Williams You Wrote My Life (buy album)
The Blue Chieftains - I Think Hank Woulda Done It This Way (buy album)
David Allan Coe - The Ride (buy album)
For Hank's last hit song (before his death) see the Hank Song Of The Week at the bottom of this page.
The Death Car. Long but not white.

Do you know Dwight Yoakam's version of "Long White Cadillac"? Slower and twangier than the Blasters' take (but then, I like Dwight).
Happy New Year, STWOF!
Wow that Moe Bandy sounds great. Gotta admit I never heard of the guy before. Btw I don´t think there are any artists (& rightly so) with more tribute songs to their name as ole Hank. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Williams#Tributes
Happy ´08!
Anon,
I like Dwight's version too, but decided to go with the original because the Blasters don't get as much publicity as Dwight. But I agree that Dwight's version is great. South of Cincinnati is one of my all-time favorites.
ramone666,
Great wiki list. I'm gonna add the Blue Chieftans!
Happy 2008 to all!
