He has some truly wonderful albums and some great flops.

You picked one the finest albums from a guy who experimented with his sound quite a bit through his career. I'm a big fan of this one, The Cat Walk, Electric Byrd and Ethiopian Knights (which I posted a couple months back, if anyone would like to hear it). The last two on the list are a complete departure from his early stuff, but his knack for finding solid melodies still rings through.

Great job again, Paul.jwroblewskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17651081743193459835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8757398021270225218.post-25678688429281851422008-03-20T09:55:00.000-04:002008-03-20T09:55:00.000-04:00Great blog, slowly turning me into country music.Th...Great blog,
slowly turning me into country music.

Thanks for this !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8757398021270225218.post-34846767890290766842008-03-20T07:59:00.000-04:002008-03-20T07:59:00.000-04:00Yes. The mixed tape really got me into jazz. Most of the stuff was Blue Note. I agree that Take Five is the classic starting point. But I think this track works because it is melodically simple, bluesy, and has many pop elements.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8757398021270225218.post-58021003747826915652008-03-20T04:02:00.000-04:002008-03-20T04:02:00.000-04:00I agree: more jazz would be great. I might have chosen Daev Brubeck's "Take Five", for example. Something more typical of jazz, while still accessable. That said, I look forward to future installments. Good luck.

_ DariusAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8757398021270225218.post-79773257645284425822008-03-19T21:48:00.000-04:002008-03-19T21:48:00.000-04:00more jazz plz,thxmore jazz plz,thxBrendanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07567622738662750569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8757398021270225218.post-16158011929194701532008-03-19T21:10:00.000-04:002008-03-19T21:10:00.000-04:00More jazz is always appreciated!More jazz is always appreciated!Ryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01737342811032273566noreply@blogger.com
